On August 18, 2006, Shanghai Integrated Isocyanates Project of which Chengda participated in the design, was put into commercial service as scheduled in ShanghaiChemicalIndustryPark. The total investment for this project reaches US $1.12 billion. It is jointly built by BASF of Germany, Huntsman of America, Shanghai Huayi Group, Sinopec Shanghai Gaoqiao Petrochemical Company and Shanghai Chlor-Alkali Chemical Co., Ltd. and is the biggest isocyanate project in China to date.

Chengda, as the design subcontractor of FLUOR, has undertaken the design and engineering work for MMDI unit and SBPC plant area infrastructure. The detailed engineering design started in October, 2003, and finished in April, 2005. The mechanical completion of the plant area infrastructure was realized on March 25th, 2006, and that of MMDI unit on March 10th, 2006, and MMDI unit was put into production ahead of schedule in May, 2006. On Aug. 11th, 2006, this project passed the inspection and acceptance organized by the Owner, Shanghai SBPC Polyurethane Co. Ltd, and on Aug. 18th, the whole project was put into commercial production.
